Evening vibes

There’s something magical about the way the day winds down here on the Moroccan coastline. You know that rare kind of evening when your skin is sun-kissed, your body tired in the best possible way, and the salty air still lingers in your hair? That’s the Tamraght vibe. It's not about going out, getting dressed up, or ticking off a to-do list. It’s about slowing down and letting the day settle naturally, with a full heart and an even fuller belly.….

Evenings here aren’t planned. They are felt.

The light begins to shift around 6 PM. The golden hour hits, and suddenly everything seems a little softer, a little warmer. The rooftops glow, the surfboards are stacked by the door, and there’s this quiet hum of gratitude in the air. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you stop and realize just how good the simple things in life are.

We often start our evenings with a slow walk, barefoot, board under arm, down to the beach. Sometimes we catch the last waves of the day, chasing the sun as it sinks lower on the horizon. Other times, we just sit on the sand, sharing stories, watching the sky turn pink, then orange, then that deep velvet blue.

There are two kinds of perfect evenings here:

  • The golden hour surf: this is for the ones who never want the day to end. There’s something incredibly special about being in the water at sunset. The crowds have thinned out, the wind calms, and the ocean reflects the sky in ways that never get old. The waves are smoother, and your energy is different, more grounded, more at ease. You surf not to chase adrenaline, but to unwind, to connect, to feel.

  • The rooftop wind-down: If it’s not a surf evening, it’s a rooftop one. Wrapped in a light sweater, we head up to the terrace with a cup of mint tea or a cold drink. Music playing softly in the background, maybe someone picks up a guitar, maybe we just watch the stars come out one by one. The conversations flow easily in this kind of space. There’s laughter, reflections, plans for tomorrow’s tide. This is where friendships grow. This is where time slows down.

Food, of course, is always part of the vibe. We love a shared tagine dinner, full of flavors that feel like home. The food tastes even better after a day spent surfing, moving, stretching, sunbathing. It’s the kind of meal you don’t rush. The kind you savor.

Evening yoga is also a beloved part of our rhythm. A slow, grounding session on the terrace, with the breeze on your skin and the sound of the ocean just below. It’s not about performance. It’s about letting go. Letting the day settle into your muscles, your mind, your breath.

We like to think of our evenings as a gentle “exhale” after the energy of the day. No pressure, no performance, just vibes. Just being. If the mornings here are about new beginnings, the evenings are about deep presence.

So next time you’re here, or anywhere where life feels soft and full, put away your phone, grab a tea, and just be with the evening. You might just find it’s your favorite time of day.
